Kristina Shimokawa began counseling in San Francisco in 2008 with homeless youth and young adults. After completing her Masters in Counseling Psychology in 2013 she moved to Maui and began providing school-based behavioral health services to West, South and Central Maui students. Kristina approaches all counseling relationships with compassion, boundaries and non-judgment, encompassing humanistic theories with cognitive behavioral therapy to help address both short term problems and older, unresolved issues that can cause life conflicts. She believes that the client has all the answers but needs to be reminded of their wisdom and inner strength. Kristina is honored to witness someone's opportunity to find healing and purpose in their life. Kristina has specialized training in the use of Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy with focus on anxiety and transitions with adolescents and adults
